There are still 6,079 children in Yadgir district, which is educationally backward, who are yet to be admitted into various schools for the current academic year, despite the efforts of authorities to admit them. As per the official data available at the beginning of the current academic year there were 11,142 children who were not admitted into schools.

Out of them 5,063 have been inducted into schools and 6,079 are yet to be admitted.
Official sources admitted that most of the 6,079 children were working on agricultural fields as child labourers or in private industries and hotels. These children are being used by their respective families to supplement the income of the family.

Some of them have also migrated to cities along with their families in search of employment. When contacted, the Deputy Director of Public Instruction of Yadgir district N. Kenchegouda told The Hindu that officials are conducting a door-to-door survey to identify children who are out of schools.

Around 127 officials of the Education Department have been deployed for this purpose to visit villages which reportedly have the highest number of children who are out of schools and and persuade their parents to send them to schools.
