Newsletter entitle: An Overview of Capacity Building Programmes of EMPRI for the Financial Year 2013-14: Established in the year 2002, EMPRI is an autonomous body under the Department of Forest, Ecology & Environment, Government of Karnataka. The institute draws its strength from a team of professionals with solid work experience and extensive training in their area of specialization. A network of experts from academia, consultancy firms and indus-tries expands on the institute's capacity.
The vision at EMPRI is to become a knowl-edge centre, inspiring and enabling the soci-ety to live in harmony with nature. Comple-menting this, the mission at EMPRI is to be-come a centre of excellence for organizing need based trainings, conducting demand driven research and providing consultancy services on concurrent environmental issues besides enabling and encouraging the civil Society and the Government to protect the environment and to ensure optimum utiliza-tion of natural resources.
The six divisions at EMPRI include; the cen-tre for lake conservation, centre for environ-ment education and information, centre for environment impact assessment and applied research, centre for waste management, cen-tre for climate change and centre for capacity building.
Centre for Capacity Building: The objective of Centre for Capacity Building is to increase the capacity of stakeholder’s knowledge, abilities, and skills on environmental issues. Capacity building will also develop activities which will strengthen the stakeholder to efficiently meet their mission and goals in a sustainable way, in terms of Knowledge.
The various stakeholders that were selected for the Capacity Building pro-grammes included: Taluk Level Officers, District Level Officers of Various de-partments, elected representatives of Gram, Taluk & Zilla Panchayat, members of stri—shakthi, staff of Health Care Establishments, officers of line depart-ments, staff of ULB’s & NGO’s……………………………..
