In adherence to the World Health Organization (WHO) methodology, a pilot project to identify and prevent contamination at various level of the drinking water supply system from Catchment to Consumers (C2C) in the two pilot areas i.e. Halasuru (BBMP Ward No. 90) and Bharathinagar (BBMP Ward No.91) of Bangalore, was successfully completed in the year 2014-15 by the EMPRI in association with Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) under the financial assistance from Centre for Infrastructure, Sustainable Transportation & Urban Planning (CiSTUP), IISc., Bengaluru.

The objective of this pilot project was to develop a protocol for supply of safe drinking water to the ward no. 90 (Halasuru) and ward no. 91 (Bharthinagar) in particular and which can be implemented by BWSSB, to the entire Bangalore city as a whole, by making necessary site-specific modifications.
